I didn't want to pay for anything I didn't want. It was down to the Asus Maximus Hero and the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming. but in a motherboard that truly nailed it for me. What I really wanted Haswell for was the platform: PCI-e 3.0, native Intel USB3.0, 6 native intel SATA 6G ports, etc. using the new 1.25x strap would get me in the same MHz ballpark as my 2500K, and that would be fine (especially with the 4 steps on top of that). I wanted a non-K Haswell for the extra features. The backstory (extra reading, for those interested): I plan to try a safer razor delidding shortly (using tape) and posting the vid to youtube.

There does seem to be a BCLK hole somewhere in between 100.0 and 103.97 (I couldn't post when I started scaling back at some point, I think just under 102), and there my be another BCLK hole right above 104 BCLK. It's stable (so far, need to make sure all controllers handle it without corruption) at that frequency, but any higher it doesn't even post. All you can do is force max turbo on all cores, and up the BCLK a few percent. And this is for an i5, so the dream of the return of i3 overclocking is dead. I can confirm that both limited multiplier (4 steps) and strap multiplier is not on the haswell non-k processors.
